best bread and best cake ever

A few weeks ago I wanted to bake bread but didn't have all the ingredients to any of my usual recipes so I made a mish-mosh of a few of my favorites and it is SO good! It is a mix between basic white bread, muffins, and corn bread.
1 3/4 cup flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
I've been mixing in some fresh herbs lately, once I made it with cheese and chilis.
It's so light and muffin-like and yet bread-y too.

The Green Tomato Bread is Ahhhhhh-mazing. Oh my goodness, it's so good! I made a brown sugar, cinnamon and sour cream frosting. I can't stop eating it!

  3. Here is the recipe for Green Tomato Cake

    In a large mixing bowl add 3 cups of flour...2 cups sugar...1tsp.cinnamon...1 tsp.salt...1tsp.baking soda...1tsp.baking powder...set aside.

In another bowl...2 eggs beaten with a wire whisk...1 cup vegetable oil whisk into eggs...add 1 tsp. vanilla...2 cups finely chopped green tomatoes...1-1 1/2 cups of either walnuts or pecans.

Now pour this into the dry mixture and stir until all is moistened. Batter will be very thick and lumpy, spoon batter into GREASED 2 loaf pans 8x4x2 or 2 8x8 square pans or 1 9x13 pan.

Bake at 350. for loaf pans 1 hour test center add 5 minutes more if needed. 8x8 pans 45 min. or 9x13 pan 45-50 minutes. with any pan size after minimum time keep checking center for doneness. so very yummy and can be spread with cream chees frosing, it tastes like carrot cake.

  4. The frosting I made was pretty simple: sour cream, butter, brown sugar and cinnamon in the mixer until it got fluffy.
